Developers deny Navajos prayers
Save the Confluence photo: "NO PRAYER ZONE? According to The Confluence Partners, LLC, 'no one prays at a cliff' in traditional Navajo religion. Can they please tell that to an estimated 300,000 Navajos who offer corn pollen to The Wind People and other deities on a daily basis here? What is wrong with these developers?"
Those pushing for development include Albert Hale, former Navajo president who resigned during a financial corruption probe. The governor of Arizona quickly appointed him to fill a vacancy in the state legislature. Now Navajos are protesting him and his push for development in a sacred area of Navajoland.

Profiteers: Liquor stores and the media
The march on White Clay, Neb.The newspapers which did not send a reporter to cover this, then followed with brief phone calls for their coverage, are much like the liquor stores in White Clay: Profiteers.
For instance, the owners of Indian Country Today announced they will spend millions on a revolutionary war film, yet they won't provide travel funds for their reporters, or pay for freelancers in South Dakota and elsewhere, to be present
and provide real news coverage. Don't be fooled by their plagiarism and rewrites.

Norrell worked for AP and USA Today as a correspondent during the 18 years she lived on the Navajo Nation. She was a reporter for newspapers in Gallup, Flagstaff and Farmington.
